Sean Davis claims he opted to join Bolton on a free transfer because he felt wanted by manager Gary Megson.
The 29-year-old former Fulham and Tottenham midfielder joined the Trotters from Portsmouth on a three-year contract on Wednesday. and he immediately pointed to Megson's relentless pursuit of his signature over the past year as the main reason for choosing the Reebok.
Davis had a mixed time at Fratton Park after helping the club pull off an amazing escape from relegation in 2006 only to then slip to the fringes of the first-team and be left out of the 2008 FA Cup winning squad.
He ended last term as a key part of boss Paul Hart's side, but decided against signing a new contract offer due to the ongoing uncertainty about the ownership of the South Coast outfit.
Davis revealed the faith Megson clearly has in his abilities and the chance to link up with former Pompey team-mates Andy O'Brien and Matt Taylor was the reason for his decision.
"Bolton showed a genuine interest in January and I found that hugely encouraging," he said. "It is an exciting opportunity, not just for me but my family as well.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back and I'll be raring to go at the start of the season. I just want to come to Bolton and work hard, enjoy my football and take the club forward.
"I have got some friends here already in Matt Taylor and Andy O'Brien who both spoke highly of the manager and the set-up. It's always nice when there are familiar faces at a new club and I'm sure that it will help me to bed in with the rest of the squad.
"Bolton have got modern facilities and a great stadium, plus I wanted to move to a club where I can play my football and be appreciated."
