Trotters close on Pole ace

Poland striker Ebi Smolarek is believed to have arrived at Bolton with a view to signing on a season-long loan deal.

The 27-year-old, who can also play on the wing, is currently with La Liga outfit Racing Santander but Trotters boss Gary Megson appears to be closing in on a swoop.

Smolarek is said to be holding talks with Bolton today and it is hoped a deal, which would include the option of a permanent move at the end of the term, will be pushed through by the weekend.

Reports also claim that young Portuguese misfit Ricardo Vaz Te will move in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
