Bolton duo Danny Shittu and Ricardo Gardner are pushing to start the home clash with Sunderland but Mark Davies is out.

Centre-half Shittu has missed two games because of a calf problem but is back in the squad along with the versatile Gardner who has shaken off hamstring trouble.

However, midfielder Davies is struggling for match fitness despite returning to training having been sidelined since the middle of March.

A point would guarantee the Trotters' Premier League status while the Black Cats themselves would take a massive step towards safety if they managed to win at the Reebok.
