Bolton trio Nicky Hunt, Danny Shittu and Gavin McCann could all be set to leave the Reebok following Gary Megson's spending spree.

The Wanderers boss has brought in Zat Knight, Sam Ricketts, Paul Robinson and Sean Davis since the transfer window opened and his purchases have cast doubt on the future of some of his current playing staff.

According to the Mirror, Shittu, who has spent just one season at Bolton, McCann and Hunt, a product of the Bolton academy, could all be shown the door as Megson looks to balance the books.

Shittu failed to break into the first team last season and it is thought the arrival of Knight will push him further down the pecking order and closer to the door.

McCann looks set to lose his place to Davis, while Hunt spent time on loan at Birmingham last season and following the arrivals of Robinson and Ricketts it would seem as if he no longer has a place at the Reebok.

The Bolton boss claims he is now happy with his defence following the summer arrivals.

He told the Bolton news: "We let too many goals in last year, so it was something I wanted to address."

It is thought Megson's summer spending is not over yet with Swansea's Ferrie Bodde still on the wanted list, though the Swans asking price of £5million is believed to be the stumbling block.
