Bolton are set to snap up West Brom full-back Paul Robinson after Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace hinted that he could leave the club.
Wanderers chief Gary Megson is a big fan of the 30-year-old combative left-sided defender, having signed him from Watford during his tenure at the Hawthorns. And after seeing a £500,000 bid snubbed since the end of last season, it appears the Whites have gone back with a final take-it-or-leave-it £750,000 offer.
Albion were thought to want £1million, but could now relent and hand Robinson the opportunity to fulfill his desire of staying in the Premier League after the Midlands outfit's relegation to the Championship.
Peace maintains that their players will only be allowed to leave under their terms, but admitted a deal could be done after Robinson spoke to new Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo.
Peace said: "He has expressed his desire in the press to play elsewhere in no uncertain terms.
"Robbie (Di Matteo) has already spoken to him. Nobody is going to leave here unless they go with terms acceptable to us.
"If, on balance, it is felt a player is better off being elsewhere, then we would look at that."
