Steve Evans has allowed 18-year-old defender Lewis Brooks to join Conference North side Alfreton Town on work experience.

The young full-back has failed to force his way into the Pilgrims' first-team this season and he had his first taste of real competitive action in Alfreton's 2-1 win against Barrow on Saturday.

The hope is that Brooks will continue to progress in non-league football and become a better long-term player at York Street.

Head of youth development Steve Welsh told the Pilgrims' official website: "We are keen for Lewis to get some first-team experience under his belt."
