Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will put the interests of the club first as he weighs up the future of Wes Thomas.

Thomas is currently on loan at Blackpool where he has scored once and provided two assists in four games, but is due to return to Dean Court in the new year.

The striker, 25, has teamed up with Michael Appleton for the second time this season at Bloomfield Road, following an earlier spell at Portsmouth, but Howe has said he will not make any rash decisions regarding the player's future.

Howe told the club's official website: "What is best for this football club is paramount in this situation.

"Whatever decision we make will be in the best interests of AFC Bournemouth.

"We didn't want Wes to go in the first place, so it's a difficult one, and we'll have to assess it come January 1 and see what he wants to do.

"I'm sure I'll be in contact with Wes when his loan is up and we'll see what the next course of action is."
