De Vita backed to hit goal trail

Bradford boss Phil Parkinson expects Raffaele De Vita to grow in confidence after netting his first goal for the club against Wolves last weekend.

The Italian, who joined from Swindon in the summer, gave the Bantams the lead on his full home debut but could not prevent the visitors from heading home with all three points.

De Vita had to be content with a bench role in the early stages of the campaign but has now started back-to-back games and Parkinson suggested he will feature regularly in the coming weeks.

"I like Raf - he always gets chances in a game. He was on the end of one at Preston and I was really pleased to see him put that one away on Saturday," Parkinson told the club's official website.

"He's a terrific lad and he has worked his socks off to get into the team recently. He has been a great lad around the squad all season really.

"Saturday's goal will do him the world of good. He looked bright against Crawley, made a goal for James (Hanson) at Preston and now he's got his own goal.

"He has great discipline to his game, but he also has good quality in and around the box."

De Vita was forced off with a slight hamstring strain on Saturday, although the problem is not expected to keep the forward out of this weekend's trip to Crewe.

"Unfortunately for Raf, who hasn't played too much this season, to ask him to play twice in four days was always going to be tough. His hamstring did tighten up slightly," Parkinson added.

"There was no need to risk Raf by letting him carry on and make it worse."
