Brighton manager Gus Poyet has welcomed his link to the job of Chelsea manager.

The Uruguayan, who made more than 100 appearances in four years at Stamford Bridge, could succeed Rafael Benitez when the interim boss departs at the end of the season.

Poyet, who has helped Albion to a promotion challenge in the npower Championship this term, told a press conference: "That's my aim. Everybody knows. I don't hide it.

"I want to go to the highest level and if it's the Premiership and it's Chelsea, fantastic.

"I like the speculation because it means we are doing something right. But it doesn't change my life at the moment."
