Bristol City are closing in on a deal for Crawley defender Kyle McFadzean.

The npower Championship strugglers say the two clubs are "close to agreement" on a fee for the 25-year-old centre-back, who new Robins boss Sean O'Driscoll is familiar with from his brief spell in charge of the West Sussex side in the summer.

An Ashton Gate spokesperson told the Evening Post: "The two clubs are close to agreement, but there are still a few small details to be ironed out. Progress is being made but nothing is imminent."

Meanwhile, O'Driscoll has confirmed it is unlikely he will have an assistant manager in place before his first game in charge away at Leeds on Saturday.
