Bristol City head coach Sean O'Driscoll has admitted he felt sorry for debutant Joe Morrell after the 16-year-old was part of the side beaten by Wycombe.
Morrell, a product of City's academy, played for the first half in the 2-1 loss to the League Two side which saw the Robins bow out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy - much to their boss' disgust.
"I felt sorry for Joe Morrell," O'Driscoll told the club's official website. "I said to him, 'that's the superstars you look up to!'
"The substitutes didn't make a difference. They booted the ball from back to front and we haven't done that all season.
"We've gone out with a whimper. It's disgraceful. It was pathetic.
"Too many players didn't perform. What was wrong? Attitude...understanding...responsibility...everything."
