Bristol City's Christian Ribeiro will end his 11-month injury hell this week when he starts pre-season training after knee trouble.

The 19-year-old defender suffered cruciate ligament damage on his Robins debut in the Carling Cup last season but he is due to join in when the squad reassembles on Wednesday.

Boss Gary Johnson told the Evening Post: "Certainly if anyone deserves it he does. The work he has put in has been nothing short of unbelievable. Everybody wants him to do well.

"Christian is fine. He has been training throughout the summer and come July 1 he will be training normally with the lads."
