Robins close to double deal

Bristol CBristol City are on the verge of making a double signing, with strikers James Scowcroft and John Akinde poised to join the Robins.

Former Ipswich forward Scowcroft has been told he can leave Championship rivals Crystal Palace and is now said to be mulling over the prospect of a switch to Ashton Gate.

The 32-year-old is unlikely to make a decision for the weekend with other parties also expressing an interest, including Watford and Huddersfield.

Meanwhile, Gary Johnson is also close to signing one of non-league football's biggest prospects, Ebbsfleet United striker Akinde.

League One side Peterborough had also expressed an interest in the 19-year-old, but it appears they have been beaten to the punch by the Robins, who have reportedly held talks with the player this week.
