Bristol City have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Dean Gerken from League One side Colchester United.

Gerken has experience of Championship football with Colchester but fell out of favour at the Weston Homes Community Stadium last season and spent time on-loan with League Two side Darlington.

Gerken told Bristol City's official website: "It's been a whirlwind move for me, taking just three or four days.

"I'm over the moon with the move. It's a massive club that plays good football. The players always look like they enjoy their football here.

"I know Adriano's a quality goalkeeper, he's proven at this level and I'm looking forward to working with him.

"I want to play at the highest level possible. I had two good seasons at Championship level with Colchester and now I want to play in the Championship again."

The 24-year-old arrives for an undisclosed fee on a two-year deal and will compete with Adriano Basso for the right to be the Robin's first-choice keeper.
