Motherwell's highly-rated striker David Clarkson is said to be closing in on a £600,000 move to Bristol City.

Reports suggest the Robins have already held talks over a deal for the 23-year-old and a transfer could go through in the next week.

Clarkson was 'Well's top scorer in the SPL last season as he netted 14 goals in an excellent campaign in Scotland's top flight.

Robins boss Gary Johnson is a big fan of Clarkson and is thought to have made contact with Motherwell about securing a deal, with a fee of £600,000 mentioned.

The striker is out of contract in 12 months time, so the SPL side are said to be keen to cash in now rather than lose him for free in a year's time.
