Bristol City chairman Steve Lansdown has refused to apologise for the Cardiff drubbing and challenged the players to bounce back.

The Robins were mauled 6-0 at home by the Bluebirds on Tuesday night to remain off the play-off pace and Lansdown wants a response at Middlesbrough on Saturday.

He told the club's website: "I can't say anything that will appease the supporters. I can apologise, but I don't feel the need to do that.

"We all must stick together. It's hard to take but sometimes it makes you stronger.

"We have a game on Saturday and we must be ready for that. The players must decide whether they've got the bottle for the fight ahead."
