Striker Nicky Maynard will miss Bristol City's trip to Watford on Tuesday after being ruled out for a fortnight with a thigh injury.

The Robins' 11-goal top scorer picked up a dead leg during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Coventry at Ashton Gate and boss Gary Johnson has confirmed he faces a spell on the sidelines.

He said: "Nicky will definitely miss the game at Watford and he could be out for some time.

"He has a large haematoma in his thigh and it usually takes a couple of weeks for something like that to clear up. It's going to be a matter of how many games he misses."

Danny Haynes and David Clarkson, who scored City's equaliser on Saturday, will be vying to replace Maynard in the starting XI, while Jamal Campbell-Ryce is set to miss out after injuring his calf during the warm-up on Saturday. However Cole Skuse could return after recovering from a stomach muscle strain.

Midfielder Ivan Sproule is hoping to earn a recall to the side as City bid to improve on a run of one win in their last 10 games.
