Bristol City striker Steve Brooker has returned to Doncaster as he bids to earn a deal at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Brooker's injury-hit initial loan spell expired last week, but he is now training with Sean O'Driscoll's side in order to secure a move.

City manager Gary Johnson told the Bristol Evening Post: "Steve Brooker is our player again, but he has gone back to Doncaster to train and recover from his injury.

"He should be fit in about 14 days and, providing nothing else goes wrong, he should be able to play some games before the end of January.

"If he can do that and prove his fitness, there is every chance he will stay on with Doncaster, providing they still want him. Brooks wants the move and they have the option of taking him on loan and signing him permanently."
