Striker's thanks for 'head's up'

Bristol CNicky Maynard has paid tribute to City's home support and revealed the fans were the inspiration for his goal celebration on Saturday.

The club record signing marked his second goal in City colours by heading into the Atyeo Stand after grabbing the second in the Robins' 4-1 win over Doncaster Rovers at Ashton Gate.

Maynard told the club's website: "The fans have been really supportive, that's the reason for my celebration.

"I want to score goals in every game that I play in but they haven't been coming as easily as I'd like."

Maynard added: "I've been getting letters and cards from fans saying 'keep your head up' and 'the goals will come', hopefully that will be the case. If we can get the win against Wolves then it will close the gap up and push us further up the league

"I don't really feel the pressure from anybody, except myself. It's just nice to know the fans believe in me and I want to repay them."
