Bristol Rovers welcome back Cian Bolger and Mustapha Carayol for the visit of Crewe on New Year's Eve.

Defender Bolger and midfielder Carayol served one-match bans in the 3-2 home defeat to Plymouth on Boxing Day but are available again to manager Paul Buckle.

Experienced centre-back Adam Virgo has been ruled out for the season with knee ligament damage while midfielder Wayne Brown (ankle) could also be unavailable for the rest of the term.

Meanwhile, veteran forward Scott McGleish returned from an ankle injury to come off the bench in the loss to Plymouth and the former Leyton Orient frontman will be pushing Eliot Richards and Matt Harrold for a striking berth.

Rovers have taken just five points from the last 27 available, leading some sections of the Pirates' supporters to call for Buckle to be sacked.
