Bristol Rovers defender Garry Kenneth could make his first appearance for 10 months on Saturday, just days after handing in a transfer request.
The Scotland international asked to leave the club last week but an injury to first-choice centre-back Mark McChrystal means Kenneth could make a shock return against Mansfield.
Manager John Ward told the Bristol Evening Post: "Garry has asked to leave, but if I ask him to play on Saturday he'll have to do that.
"I didn't use Garry on Saturday, but now we have the problem with McChrystal the situation may change.
"Garry is fit and ready to go and will have to be professional about his job and represent himself and the club as best he can."
He added: "I'm not sure of the reason why he wants to leave; that has not been made clear to me yet. The chairman and his agent have been in conversation, but nothing has been resolved."
