Clarets edge closer to Dawson deal

Burnley are hoping their latest £2m bid for West Brom defender Craig Dawson will finally be enough to land him.

The Clarets have been after the 24-year-old former England Under-21 defender for the past month and are confident of eventually securing his services as Dawson is keen to leave The Hawthorns for a new challenge.

Burnley boss Sean Dyche has revealed he is closing in on some of his summer targets and hopes an offer of £2m will be accepted by the Baggies after having previous bids of £1m and £1.5m knocked back.

Dyche said: "There are a couple of things that are ongoing and a couple of fresh things that are just developing. It is a bit protracted with a couple of things, but sometimes that's the nature of how it is, if you can't throw money everywhere."
