Dyche positive despite first defeat

Sean Dyche believes he has plenty to build on following an encouraging start to life as Burnley manager.

The former Watford boss' winning start to life with the Clarets ended in his third game as DJ Campbell hit a late winner in a 2-1 win for Championship strugglers Ipswich at Portman Road on Saturday .

But back-to-back victories over Wolves and Leeds with consecutive clean sheets from a previously leaky defence provide reasons to be cheerful, alongside Charlie Austin's continued free-scoring form in attack.

"The players have done a lot of what we have asked them to do and there is more development within the team, for sure," Dyche told Burnley's official website.

"If you look at the games we've had and if people had said we would have a couple of clean sheets and six points out of nine, on the back of six points out of nine previously, then you would say 'okay, that's a good base to work from moving forward'.

"There are plenty of positives to build on. The players have been excellent."
