Eddie Howe believes he has the best strikers in the Championship after watching his side score five stunning goals against Portsmouth.

Defender Kieran Trippier opened the scoring for the Clarets before David Norris levelled to ensure it remained 1-1 at the break.

But Danny Ings netted his first goal for Burnley early in the second half before substitute Charlie Austin claimed a quickfire treble - his final two goals coming in stoppage time - to record an emphatic 5-1 triumph.

And the comfortable victory came with 21-goal striker Jay Rodriguez sidelined due to a hip problem.

Howe said: "I think we have the best strikers in the Championship. We have Charlie, Jay, Danny, who are all top quality forwards.

"They are all very clinical and they showed that. Portsmouth dominated the first half but I thought we were excellent in the second period."
