The Clarets have won their appeal for Dean Marney's red card to be overturned and he will be available for selection at the weekend.

Marney was shown a straight red in the 2-1 home defeat to Birmingham City last Saturday an hour into the game, when the scores were level.

At the time, Sean Dyche was furious with the decision and Blues boss Lee Clark also believed that the dismissal was harsh, saying: "He's made a genuine attempt for the ball. I never thought it was anything over the top, from either player."

Marney is likely to retain his place in the team as the Clarets travel to face Peterborough on Saturday.

The 28-year-old has appeared in 27 league games so far this season, scoring two goals.
