Burnley's Scotland international Graham Alexander has given the club a boost by signing a new deal to keep him at Turf Moor.

The 37-year-old midfielder was an inspiration last season in Burnley's promotion campaign and was the first name on Owen Coyle's team sheet every week.

The former Preston man has now signed a new deal which will keep him at the club for a further 12 months at least and offers the veteran his chance of playing top-flight football for the first time in his long career.

The deal is a boost to the club on the eve of the pre-season.
