More bench duty for new boy

BurnleyRussell Anderson will have to settle for a place on the bench as boss Owen Coyle names an unchanged Burnley side to face Plymouth.

The 29-year-old Scotland international central defender joined the Clarets on loan from Sunderland earlier in the week, but is not likely to be pitched straight in to face his former loan club Argyle at Turf Moor on Saturday. Coyle was delighted with he side's 3-0 Carling Cup win against Oldham in midweek and is set to keep the faith this weekend.

Anderson said: "The team did well, so I think the manager could quite easily be forgiven for picking the same XI on Saturday."

Chris McCann will start in his 100th appearance for the Clarets as he bids to have a successful season with the club.

"I knew coming back that this was going to be my biggest season yet," he said. "People can't keep relying on me being young any more.

"I'm 21 now and it's time for me to step up to the plate and start being a man by taking hold of games and driving the team on. Hopefully I can get more games under my belt and keep progressing."

Striker Martin Paterson, who has now scored five goals in as many games since a summer move from Scunthorpe, will be hoping to fire the Clarets to their first Championship win of the campaign.
