Move on for Latvian

BurnleyBurnley are in negotiations with Latvian side Olimps Riga in an effort to sign winger Aleksandrs Solovjovs.

The highly-rated 20-year-old has been on trial with the Lancashire side and boss Owen Coyle is eager to acquire his services on a permanent basis.

Coyle said: "He's got pace and seems to have a very good awareness of the game, and I'm always looking for that."

Solovjovs is also wanted by UEFA cup champions Zenit St Petersburg who have already made an offer, but it is thought he would prefer a move to England.

The stumbling block could be the fee Olimps Riga are asking for Solovjovs, which is thought to be in the region of £400,000.

Coyle said: "We will find out what the situation is.

"He's got a few attributes in his locker and I think he will only get better. So we'll weigh everything up and speak to all the parties involved and see where that takes us."
