Billy Reid has confirmed Hamilton have received a number of enquiries from Burnley about teenage midfielder James McCarthy.
The 18-year-old has attracted interest from a number of top-flight clubs and Clarets boss Owen Coyle is expected to test Accies' resolve with a firm offer.
Reid has promised to fight off any interest in the talented youngster and has said he fully expects McCarthy to report for pre-season training.
He told The Scotsman: "I don't deny Burnley have made enquiries about James, but it's not right for us at the minute. We know how important an asset he is to us.
"There has always been interest in James, it's the nature of the game, and we keep him informed at all times.
"I expect to see him at the start of pre-season training next week."
