New signing Dane Richards cannot wait to get his Burnley career up and running.

The 28-year-old winger penned a pre-contract agreement in August and will arrive at Turf Moor in January from Canadian side Vancouver Whitecaps.

Richards has signalled his intention to be a success in the npower Championship, telling the Clarets' official website: "When I was growing up I always wanted to go to the highest level I could and play in England so I am very happy about it.

"I am very excited about coming over. I didn't know too much about Burnley before but I have been looking them up online and checking out their results and I can't wait to get started once our season is finished.

"Once I set my mind on something I know I will be ready and I definitely think I will be able to adapt straight away.

"Hopefully the team will be in a good position and I can help keep pushing them up the table."
