Tom Soares returned to action for Bury's development squad's 2-0 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
The former Crystal Palace and Stoke midfielder has only managed 48 minutes of game time this season, and hasn't played since August 17. Soares missed the back end of last term with haematoma - bleeding in the muscles- behind his hamstring and had worked hard to get back to match fitness.
A player of serious quality, his return will be a welcoming boost for Kevin Blackwell's men who have made an indifferent start to the season.
Although progressing well, it appears unlikely that Soares will feature in Saturday's away game at Fleetwood with a return more likely to be the home fixture with Southend the following weekend.
