Cardiff boss Malky Mackay says the club must not lose sight of their homegrown youngsters as they look to make big summer signings.
Mackay is aware that he has to make a host of signings over the summer as he tries to build a squad capable of holding their own in the Premier League next season.
As well as that though, the boss has made it clear that he wants to promote from within and that the Academy system remains vital to the club's future.
Last week Kevin Nicholson was brought into the youth set-up at the club from a similar post at Exeter and he is looking forward to his new role.
"I'm delighted to have been given the opportunity to join a club the size of Cardiff City and to take on a very important role within their Academy," said Nicholson.
