Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has played down the player bonus row which some have blamed for their poor showing at the weekend.
Cardiff looked a shadow of their normal selves in the first half at home to Newcastle but Mackay claims it had nothing to do with a row over bonus payments that the squad will be entitled to at the end of the season.
Mackay did not want to get involved in the wrangle and says the matter is in the hands of the club's hierarchy but denied that any of his players had used that as an excuse for their slow start at the weekend.
"They (the players) deal with the football club and the chief executive," Mackay told Wales Online. "That's something that can't really come under my brief.
"It's certainly not an excuse our players are giving."
