Cardiff striker in fitness race

Cardiff City striker Andreas Cornelius will take a big step on the road to fitness when he runs out for a friendly with Yeovil.

The Danish frontman has been out of the side for the past two months with an ankle injury which he picked up in pre-season and he then suffered another setback after he got clobbered in the Capital One Cup clash with Accrington Stanley, and has not been seen since.

The 20-year-old who signed from FC Copenhagen in the summer is now ready for a run out and will play against the Glovers on Thursday.

"We want Andreas back playing and it's been frustrating for him, but I have to look at the situation carefully and so do Cardiff City's medical people," boss Malky Mackay told Wales online.

"We hope he will start against Yeovil where he will get his first run-out for a while. We'll see how he is and it's important we bleed him back in gently."
