Malky Mackay has allowed defender Kevin McNaughton to extend his loan stay at Bolton by a further two months.

The Bluebirds defender initially joined the Trotters on a one-month deal in September and will now remain at the Reebok Stadium until the new year.

McNaughton has made four appearances for Dougie Freedman's side, who have been unbeaten since he arrived, and the 31-year-old said last week that he hoped to extend his stay.

He said: "I'm not really getting a look in at Cardiff and all I want to do is play football, so that's my only aim at the minute.

"If the manager wants to extend it then brilliant, I'd love to stay on for longer."
