Dave Jones has drawn up his January shopping list after the club backed his idea to generate funds with future season ticket sales.
Boss Jones came up with the idea of creating money by offering fans the chance to get their money back on a season ticket for next season if they buy before December 31 and the Bluebirds are promoted in May.
Any extra funds generated will go straight to Jones for team strengthening and Jones, who has called the unique scheme "a no-brainer" admits he has several transfer targets in mind for the New Year.
"Every year I have been here we have got close, but never been able to push on because of all the things going on. We need a real push now. This is the right time, because of the position we are in, to have a big push at it.
"Surely, now, we have to strengthen. It wouldn't be right to just rely on what we have. The players here want help. I want help.
"It would be fantastic for everybody, for the club and the fans, if we can all take the next step together."
Jones has already identified the players he wants, adding: "I need competition at centre-forward, I have to bring in some central midfield players and a wide player. I have told the directors four players are needed."
"We are in the best position to earn promotion than for many a year," added chairman Peter Ridsdale.
"We need to know where we are coming from in terms of money available to spend on players. Money in now will allow us to spend.
"We will back Dave."
