Cardiff midfielder Aron Gunnarsson is facing a race to be fit for the start of the Premier League season as he has a shoulder injury.
The 24-year-old picked up the injury while on international duty for Iceland last Friday in their defeat to Slovenia and was immediately taken to hospital.
The midfielder will have further scans on the problem but if it turns out that Gunnarsson suffered a dislocated shoulder it could leave one of the Bluebirds' key men sidelined for 10-12 weeks.
Cardiff's head of performance Richard Collinge told the club's official website: "Aron is currently undergoing a series of tests and investigations to determine the extent of his shoulder injury, from which we will be able to implement a management and recovery schedule.
"Any injury is frustrating for a player, but we will give Aron the best possible support to enable a swift return to action."
