Cardiff defender Ben Nugent says he would be happy to extend his loan spell at League One side Brentford beyond January.
The 20-year-old agreed a six-month loan switch to Griffin Park in the summer after Bluebirds boss Malky Mackay decided it was best for the youngster to head out temporarily to get some regular first-team action.
So far he is doing well for the Bees and scored his first goal in only his third appearance for them in Tuesday's 5-3 Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over AFC Wimbledon.
Nugent believes the move is right for his development at the moment and says he would be keen to stay on for longer if the chance arose in the new year.
He said: "I think I've progressed since I came in. I'm getting stronger and getting fitter. I know my position, I know where I am and I feel like I'm progressing so it's just a case of waiting for my chance and grabbing it with both hands when it comes.
"If the situation to stay comes around, then it's something I'd want; I've started the season so I'd like to finish it."
