Ross McCormack got both goals as City won their opening Algarve Cup clash against host club Vitoria Guimaraes.
The Scottish striker was on target in the 16th and 68th minutes to earn City a five-point haul from the opening game - with all goals worth one bonus point each.
The Bluebirds, backed by over 1,000 travelling fans, deservedly took the lead after a quarter of an hour when McCormack finished off from close, despite the Portuguese defenders' offside appeals.
The former Rangers man bagged his second midway through the second half with a neat lob of the keeper and simple finish.
Vitoria were handed a consolation when Kennedy was penalised in the City box and the Portuguese side converted the spot-kick.
