Cardiff City striker Nicky Maynard insists he is relishing the chance to prove himself in the Premier League next season.
Maynard joined the Bluebirds from West Ham last summer but he endured an injury-ridden campaign with the Welsh outfit, spending the majority of the term watching from the sidelines.
The former Bristol City and Crewe man grabbed his first goal for the newly-promoted side when he made a substitute's appearance on the final day of the season against Hull.
After failing to impress during his last spell in the top flight with the Hammers, the 26-year-old feels he has to do everything possible to have an impact this time round.
Maynard said: "I hope I can prove to the fans that I have been a good signing and we can establish ourselves as a Premier League team.
"As a club, promotion has been a massive thing.
"It's down to us to stake our claim in the first XI, and first and foremost get a good pre-season under our belts."
