New Carlisle boss Graham Kavanagh is determined to give supporters a positive future at Brunton Park.
Kavanagh was former manager Greg Abbott's assistant before taking over as caretaker boss, he has since lifted United from third bottom to 14th in League One during his short spell.
His first game as permanent boss will be away to Shrewsbury this weekend, a win could be good enough to lift the Cumbrians into the top half of the table.
Speaking to the News and Star, Kavanagh stated "Hopefully the fans will understand how important they are and get behind the club.
"We want a positive and thriving football club that is very much looking to the future, not at the negative which is in the past.
"We need to get away from that feeling, give supporters something to believe in and hope we get more of them back through the gate because that is the only way we can succeed. Hopefully with the last three wins we have a start and a fresh optimism, and now we have to carry that forward."
