Bhoys face new striker rivals

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is set to join Celtic in the race for Marc-Antoine Fortune if he fails to land his top target Kevin Doyle.

Reading striker Doyle was reportedly in talks with McCarthy over a move after Wolves looked set to offer the release fee of £6.5million. But if the deal runs into complications, and the fee involved is a potential one, then McCarthy will have to look elsewhere and Fortune could be the answer.

His French club AS Nancy have already accepted a £2.5m bid from Hull, but no personal terms have been finalised and there is plenty of other interest in the forward.

New Bhoys boss Tony Mowbray knows all about Fortune's qualities after he had him on loan at West Brom last season and it looks certain he would like to take him to Parkhead. However, in addition to Wolves and Hull, Portsmouth have also been linked with the player.
