Celtic suffered a 3-0 defeat at home to Juventus, with Alessandro Matri, Claudio Marchisio and Mirko Vucinic on target for Juve.
The SPL side's Champions League hopes appear to be all but over following the comprehensive defeat at Parkhead.
Matri opened the scoring after just three minutes when he out-muscled Efe Ambrose and poked the ball under the legs of keeper Fraser Forster.
Mikael Lustig tried to clear the ball off the line, and Marchisio fired home the rebound but the goal was correctly awarded to Matri.
Celtic didn't allow their heads to drop and dominated possession in the first half.
The best chance fell to Kris Commons who tried his luck with a spectacular overhead effort that fell just wide of the upright.
The hosts continued to push for an equaliser in the second half and won a succession of corners and on 62 minutes Ambrose should have levelled matters.
A corner from the left was played to Charlie Mulgrew and his cross found Ambrose but the Nigerian headed the ball straight into the grateful arms of Gianluigi Buffon.
Juve grabbed a goal on the counter through Marchisio on 77 minutes as he cut inside and fired the ball past Forster.
Marchisio then turned provider as he dispossessed Ambrose on the edge of the area and slipped the ball to Vucinic, who calmly slotted past Forster to leave Celtic with a seemingly impossible task ahead of the second-leg in Turin.
