Celtic first-team coach Peter Grant has admitted the banter with Rangers assistant boss McCoist has already begun.
Grant has joined new Bhoys' boss Tony Mowbray and assistant Mark Venus at Celtic Park - returning to the Glasgow outfit after 15 years at the club as a player between 1982 and 1997.
McCoist, who is the current number two at Ibrox, was a Rangers hero during Grant's playing days with Celtic and the two had many battles over the years.
But McCoist was one of the first to congratulate Celtic's new acquisition when he heard of the appointment, albeit in a light-hearted manor.
"McCoist has already been on the phone giving me a bit of stick," he said. "You never leave the Old Firm environment.
"But I'm not here as a supporter or a cheerleader. I'm here to help players.
"I think he wants us to roll about now and get the fight out of the road before we go on the touchline."
And Grant knows he will face a formidable coaching line-up when the Old Firm meet once again next season.
"Walter (Smith) is a fantastic man and you see Rangers have McCoist, Ian Durrant and Kenny McDowall, who left from here obviously, people who want to do well for the club," he added.
"We have the exact same here, people who are desperate to do well for Celtic, so let battle commence and we are really looking forward to it."
