Celtic and Wigan Athletic are among the clubs monitoring the form of winger Andre Carvalhas at Portuguese second division side Naval.

Celtic chief scout John Park has had the 23-year-old watched several times in recent weeks while Wigan are reported to have also shown an interest.

Carvalhas, who has netted seven goals this season, will be out of contract in the summer and could move for free.

Serie A clubs Palermo and Siena have also expressed an interest in him, as have Greek outfit Panionios.

Carvalhas, who came through the youth ranks at Benfica, said: "I have had a good season and perhaps this summer is the moment for me to try a new challenge outside of Portugal.

"I am waiting to see what happens but I have decided that I now want to accept a new challenge."

Celtic have been linked to several Portuguese-based targets recently including Braga winger Helder Barbosa and ex-Maritimo forward Baba Diawara, who eventually went to Sevilla.
