Hoops target last-gasp deal

Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell has hinted Celtic may make one new signing before the transfer window closes.

The SPL champions have brought in five new players this summer, Shaun Maloney, Glenn Loovens, Marc Crosas, Georgios Samaras and Paddy McCourt, but Gordon Strachan is keen to strengthen further.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Lawwell: "Time is now against us, but you never know what can happen in the last two or three days of the window. Our mission is to strengthen.

"It would be great to pull something out of the hat for Gordon and if we can do that we will."
