Scott Cuthbert has admitted he would happily return to St Mirren if he fails to break into the Celtic first team next season.
The defender, who celebrates his 22nd birthday on Monday, impressed Buddies boss Gus MacPherson on a season-long loan last term.
However he is now back at Parkhead where he will start preparing for the new SPL season with the Bhoys.
Cuthbert insists he will fight hard to get into the Celtic side under a new manager this coming season, but would relish the chance to return to St Mirren if he struggles to do so.
He said: "The decision as to whether or not I stay at Celtic is out of my hands.
"It's up to the club to decide if they want to keep me or whether they want to me to go. I've been there since I was 11.
"I came through all the youth set-ups and it's where I want to play but if that doesn't happen then I will need to move on.
"I loved my time at St Mirren as they have a good manager and good coaching staff. With every game I played, I learned something."
