Tony Mowbray says he's up for the challenge of restoring Celtic back to the top of the SPL and improving their European fortunes.

Mowbray was paraded as Celtic's new boss at a press conference on Wednesday, after deciding to leave West Brom for Scotland and return to the club he played for between 1991 and 1995.

The former centre-back said the chance to return and manage the Bhoys was just too good an opportunity to turn down and he is confident he can bring success, both in the SPL and Europe, back to the club next season.

"I would like to build a team that can compete at all levels, to be feared and respected, not only in the Scottish game but in Europe," he said.

"And that's a process that you have got to build.

"There are some major powers in the world with some major resources but what I've got to try and do is to put together a team that can punch above its weight on the European stage."

Celtic will hope to make it through to the Champions League group stages by coming through a two-legged qualifier at the end of the July, while expectations will be high that Mowbray can wrestle the SPL title back off local rivals Rangers next season.

Punters who feel Mowbray is able to bring the glory days back to Celtic can take advantage of a £10 free Bet ahead of the new campaign.
