Charlton boss Phil Parkinson says he is confident of signing defender Miguel Angel Llera following his release from MK Dons.

The 29-year-old Spanish defender is a free agent after leaving the Dons and host of clubs including Norwich have been linked with a move for the player.

However, the Addicks appear to be in the box seat and Parkinson is confident of striking a deal.

Parkinson told the News Shopper: "He is certainly a player we are close to signing. Miguel is one of a number of players we've been speaking to, but sometimes these things take a while to be formalised.

"He has had a good season with MK Dons and we aren't the only club who have expressed an interest in him."
