Charlton boss Phil Parkinson has denied reports suggesting Chelsea have made a move to sign Jonjo Shelvey.

The highly-rated 17-year-old is attracting plenty of interest with Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle among the clubs known to be keen on signing him this summer.

Reports in the press had suggested that Chelsea had made the first move by making the Addicks an offer, but Parkinson has moved quickly to deny the rumours.

Parkinson told the News Shopper: "There is no truth in the Chelsea story that I know of and it is just paper talk."
